The hotel Sóley and Dalvík

Hotel Sóley

The name Sóley literally means The Island of the Sun but is also the name of the flower Buttercup, which grows in abundance in Iceland. In the spring months of 2006 Hótel Sóley will open its doors to visitors after rebuilding and renovations, but the house was originally built as a shcool dormitory in 1975.
We offer 25 double rooms with shower/WC, TV.
In the basement there will be heating and drying facilities for ski equipment.
The breakfast room offers a great view over the valley of Svarfaðardalur.
The town of Dalvík is situated on the west coast of Eyjafjörður, the longest fjord in North Iceland. The view is breathtaking, mountains, the sea and the island of Hrísey.

The municipality of Dalvík

In the village of Dalvík there are about 1800 inhabitants that work mostly in the fishing industry, farming and various services. Dalvík is an excellent starting point if you want to learn about North Iceland. The closest surrounding Tröllaskagi - the peninsula of the trolls - offers various interesting hiking trails, also there is the possibility of whalewatching, canooing, mountainbiking, ponyriding, golf and skiing in the winter months. Interesting volcanic areas of Mývatn and Krafla are only 2 hours away by car and Akureyri, the largest town in North Iceland is only 25 minutes away by car on a road that is open all year round.
