Hótel Varmahlíd is located by Route 1 in Varmahlíð, in the heart of Skagafjördur. It is a comfortable, small hotel, with 19 rooms. All the rooms have private facilities with a shower. they are also equipped with a TV, a hairdrier and a telephone. The hotel offers a variety of rooms: single-, double-, triple- and a family room where up to 5 people can sleep.

The hotel restaurant offers an a la carte menu from June through August, as well as a menu for groups. For lunch we offer light meals or a buffet. Over the winter months you need to order any meal in advance. Hótel Varmahlíd is involved in a project called The Food Chest Skagafjördur, which concentrates on local cuisine from the Skagafjördur region . Those dishes are marked whith a special logo.

Hótel Varmahlíd is located in a flourishing agricultural area, where the Icelandic horse has been treasured for centuries. The fjord Skagafjördur is known for its wide open space surrounded by beautiful mountains. There are many things one can do in Skagafjördur. Visit the Glaumbaer museum and enjoy homemade goods at Áshús cafe. For those interested in the Icelandic horse, there are regular horse shows as well as horse rentals near the hotel. The adventuresome can experience river rafting, or take on an unforgettable trip to Drangey island.

In Varmahlíd there is a trail leading to Reykjarhóll hill where the hiker is rewarded with a great view over Skagafjördur. Last but not the least, enjoy the hot swimming pool in Varmahlíd.
