Hotel Gullfoss at Brattholt

Hotel Gullfoss located in Biskupstungur, on the banks of the river Hvita. We are ca. 60 km from Selfoss, 7 km from Geysir, 3 km from Gullfoss. Hotel Gullfoss is by highway 35 and an excellent starting point for the Kjolur route and a good place to rest on the way back.

  Country Hotel

There has been tourist accommodation in Brattholt with a good personal service for a number of years and on the 1st of June 2000 we opened a new country hotel with 16 double rooms with bath, a restaurant seating 70 people and 2 new jacuzzi's (hot tubs).

We offer accommodation in single and double rooms with breakfast. There is a TV in every room and a wireless internet access. We also offer Icelandic home cooking, as well as coffee, cakes and snacks.

 Environment / Leisure

There are many beautiful hiking trails close to Brattholt among them the Hvita Canyon trail, there is only 30 minutes walk to Gullfoss waterfall from the canyon.

There are plenty of leisure activities in the vicinity. The nearest swimming pool is in Geysir 7 km, a Golf course in Uthlid 15 km. Reykholt has a shop 25 km and a small petting zoo in Laugarás 35 km and lots of other things. There is a scheduled bus service from BSI Bus Central in Reykjavik.

 Winter visits

Hotel Gullfoss at Brattholt is in a comfortable distance from Reykjavik, not much danger of the roads being closed on account of weather, therefore a good choice for travellers who have a limited time in Iceland. Close by are some of South Iceland's natural wonders Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir, Haukadalsskogur and Bruarhlod and a bit further Thingvellir, Skalholt, Laugarvatn, Thjorsardalur valley.

The choices of day trips are almost limitless year round. The place is just as beautiful in winter the sight of Gullfoss waterfall is magnificent when garbed in ice and snow. "The Northern Lights" aurora borealis dancing in the starlit sky on a clear winter night is a sight one never forgets.
