Furs and Fur Products in Iceland

With Iceland's sub-Arctic climate, furs are a given. They are not sold in many places throughout Iceland but those boutiques that do stock them do so with panache.

Here the word 'fur' refers to anything from long and exquisite sable coats to the sassiest of sealskin jackets. The former needs no introduction, while the latter has been climbing in popularity over the past several years. Sealskin is now used in ways both innovative and classic; some designers have been experimenting with dyeing it into different shades, for example, or fashioning it into parkas or vests.

Accessories, most notably fur-lined hats, are also exceedingly popular. This is especially true of the ones with the flaps that cover the ears, which besides being super trendy, are also terrifically warm.
