Life of whales

Life of Whales is based in the old harbor of Reykjavik. We operate the whale watching boat Andrea and the restaurant called “The Lobster Boat".

Our boat is very stable, comfortable and of high speed. All passengers have a seat inside the boat so they don´t have to stand or sit outside on the deck. Inside the boat we have seats for 50 people. We want to keep it like that because with that number we can give all passengers a good space, a good seat and good view in all directions when we are looking for the whales. When standing outside on deck, passengers can have borrowed sweaters so they don´t get cold.

When entering the whale watching boat, guests will board through the restaurant where our ticket sales and information center is located. Guests waiting for the next tour can wait in our lounge and have a cup of coffee or other refreshment.

Special sea angling tours are available from April to October.

Each tour takes about three hours. We start the tours with a stop near the small island of Akurey, which is populated by over 15,000 pairs of puffins. From there we head out to Faxafloi bay looking for whales. The most frequently seen whales are minke whales, as well as white–beaked dolphins and harbor porpoises. Now and then we see humpback and killer whales. On the way back we let people who want to try some sea angling attempt to catch some fish. Whale sightings in 2007 were approx. 94% but in the unlikely event of not seeing anything, we offer another tour free of charge.

We are a small company, friendly and fun to be with. Ask someone who has experienced a day of wonder with "Life of Whales" or have a look at the comments from our guests on our website.
